The Ascent to Virtue Journal

A Year of Reflection, Laughter, and Growth, One Virtue at a Ti

This Month’s Virtue: Self-Awareness

This month, we are learning to laugh at our reactions and reflect on what they reveal. Self-awareness isn’t shame, it’s where growth begins.

Welcome to the Journey

Hi there,

If you have ever overreacted to a cold cup of coffee, argued over something ridiculous, or learned a major life lesson from a toddler, this journal is for you.

Ascent to Virtue is about growing through the mess, the mundane, and the mildly embarrassing moments of life. This journal is not for perfectionists. It is for real people who want to laugh at themselves, reflect honestly, and take small steps toward becoming better.

Here’s how it works:

  • Each month focuses on one core virtue.
  • You’ll find a brief intro to the virtue, a quote, and space to set intentions.
  • Each week, you’ll check in with yourself.
  • There’s also a monthly tracker to spot patterns and progress.

Let’s begin the climb, together.

With you,

Month Reflection:

  • What patterns or habits am I beginning to notice more clearly?
  • When do I feel most disconnected from myself, and why?
  • How can I become more aware of my thoughts, reactions, and emotions without judgment?

Week 1 : May 1 – 11

  • What did I notice about myself this week that I usually overlook?
  • What was my most repeated reaction—and what was underneath it?
  • One awareness-building practice to try next week: ________

Week 2 : May 12 – 18

  • When did I react out of habit instead of intention?
  • How did I treat myself when I messed up?
  • What would more self-honesty have looked like?

Week 3: May 19 – 25

  • What feedback did I receive this week, direct or indirect?
  • How did I respond to it?
  • What might others see in me that I don’t always see?
